Prof Paddy Dewan* has been awarded the Saint Teresa Presidential Medal, Kosovo’s highest accolade for humanitarian service.
Paddy was presented with the award by the President of Kosovo, Dr Vjosa Osmani Sadriu in acknowledgement of his exceptional efforts in providing expert medical care for children in Kosovo suffering from rare diseases, as well as his dedication to training Kosovar medical staff over many years.
Paddy and Padma spent nearly 30 minutes in conversation with President Osmani-Sadriu (whose husband and twin daughters are Australian citizens).
During the meeting, Paddy explained, “I came to Kosovo to teach the science of decision making about surgery, and the art of performing surgery”.
Congratulations to Paddy on this well-deserved honour, recognising his noble humanitarian work.
